We’re Kate + Daniel, the husband-and-wife team behind Caravan Farm & Kitchen — a small farm, kitchen + gathering place on the Oregon coast.

We grow specialty produce with the kitchen in mind, build menus around what’s coming out of the ground, and create ways for people to experience the whole thing — from farmers market vegetables to private dinners, ferments, focaccia + whatever else the season inspires.

WE GROW WHAT WE WANT TO COOK.

FROM RESTAURANTS TO THE FIELD

Before Caravan Farm & Kitchen, we both spent years working in food — cooking it, serving it and building our lives around restaurants.

We both grew up in Oregon, then spent six years traveling full-time in our self-converted school bus, working seasonally and figuring out what we wanted life + work to look like along the way.

That journey took us to mid-coast Maine, where we spent two seasons farming and fell in love with growing food, working close to the land and knowing exactly where the ingredients on the plate came from.

After returning to Oregon and running a brunch concept in Portland, we moved to Newport in May 2025 ready to build something of our own.

We didn’t want the farm and the kitchen to be separate things.

FRONT OF HOUSE. BACK OF HOUSE.
AND THE FIELD IN BETWEEN.

We’re the chefs, bartenders, caterers + farmers behind Caravan Farm & Kitchen.

Around here, the line between farmer, cook, bartender, server, dishwasher + host gets pretty blurry.

KATE
Farmer + Chef

Kate leads the food side — developing dishes, building menus and figuring out what to make with whatever is looking especially good in the field that week.

DANIEL
Farmer + Front of House

Daniel leads the drinks + hospitality side — bartending, serving, baking, and dreaming up ferments and making sure everyone feels at home around the table.

THE FARM?
That’s both of us!

We plant together, harvest together, work farmers markets together, plan our seasons and crops and develop menus side by side.

We call Caravan Farm & Kitchen a chef-driven micro farm because what happens in the kitchen shapes what happens in the field — and vice versa.

FROM THE FIELD, FORWARD.

  • A farm with cultivated fields, a person working in the field, a white barn, and a backdrop of dense green trees under a clear blue sky.

    We Grow it

We grow seasonally for the Oregon coast using organic practices, low mechanization + a whole lot of hands-on attention.

No tractor. No giant crew. Mostly the two of us, some shovels and a lot of time paying attention to the soil.

  • A man harvesting radishes from a vegetable garden in an outdoor farm setting, with green plants and a trellis in the background.

    WE DREAM IT UP

We choose specialty varieties with the kitchen already in mind — flavor, texture, color + what they can become on the plate.

A beet isn’t just a beet when you already know what you want to do with it.

  • A woman wearing a black cap and apron serving food at an outdoor buffet with bowls of pasta and salads on a table.

    WE COOK + TEST IT.

Some crops become sandwiches or dinner menus. Others become focaccia, fermented hot sauce, sauerkraut, sourdough blondies or whatever we’re experimenting with next.

  • People gathered around a long outdoor dining table with food and floral decorations, in a grassy area with trees and a white canopy tent in the background.

    WE SHARE IT

At farmers markets. Through local retailers. With vegetable wholesale partners. At private events. Around a long table.

The whole point is getting the food out of the field and into somebody’s hands.

Let’s make some magic.

Have a dinner to plan? A wedding? A pop-up? A collaboration that’s a little hard to explain? Perfect.

We love building experiences around good food, good people + whatever is growing right now. Tell us what you’re thinking and let’s see what we can make together.
